Instructions
Cream together butter and sugars.
Add eggs one at a time and beat until smooth.
Add vanilla extract, spices, flour, baking powder and sour cream. Blend until smooth, add
milk and mix well..
Pour into round, greased ( or parchment lined ) cake pan.
Mix chopped nuts and 1/2 C brown sugar together in a bowl. With fingers,
sprinkle over entire cake surface.
Peel apples and cut into fourths. Slice and stick them into the cake
surface, but not too deep. This will also push the nut mixture into the
cake just a bit, forming an amazing topping.
Bake at 160 C ( 320 F ) on the low rack until golden brown and knife
comes out clean.
